Job summary

Boulder Adventure Park is seeking an experienced Arcade Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair our arcade equipment while ensuring an exceptional guest experience. The role centers on maximizing game uptime through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and inventory management, with additional facilities support as needed.

The technician will diagnose games, repair components, calibrate and test after repairs, and keep an organized workshop.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience repairing commercial arcade or amusement equipment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair video games, redemption games, crane machines, and other amusement equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to maximize game uptime and reliability.
  • Repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic components.
  • Replace defective parts including switches, sensors, joysticks, power supplies, motors, ticket dispensers, coin mechanisms, card readers, monitors, LEDs, wiring, and control boards.
  • Document completed maintenance and repairs using MaintainX.

Arcade Technician

Boulder Adventure Park is seeking an experienced, self‑motivated Arcade Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair our arcade equipment while ensuring an exceptional guest experience. This position is responsible for maximizing game uptime through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and inventory management.

While the arcade is the technician’s primary responsibility, this position is also a member of the Facilities Department and will assist with general facility maintenance as operational needs require.

Essential Responsibilities
Arcade Operations
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair video games, redemption games, crane machines, and other amusement equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to maximize game uptime and reliability.
  • Repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic components.
  • Replace defective parts including switches, sensors, joysticks, power supplies, motors, ticket dispensers, coin mechanisms, card readers, monitors, LEDs, wiring, and control boards.
  • Maintain redemption equipment and ensure proper ticket/card payout functionality.
  • Calibrate and test games after repairs.
  • Maintain an organized repair shop and work area.
Preventative Maintenance
  • Develop and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Inspect all games for wear, damage, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Clean and lubricate mechanical assemblies as required.
  • Document completed maintenance and repairs using MaintainX.
Parts & Inventory
  • Maintain an organized inventory of replacement parts.
  • Identify needed parts and submit purchase requests.
  • Track inventory usage and maintain adequate stock of commonly used components.
  • Assist with vendor communication and warranty claims when necessary.
Documentation
  • Record repairs, diagnostics, downtime, and completed work in MaintainX.
  • Track recurring failures and recommend permanent corrective actions.
  • Provide regular updates on game availability and repair priorities.
General Facilities Support
  • General building maintenance
  • Minor plumbing repairs
  • Basic electrical repairs
  • Painting and carpentry
  • Equipment inspections
  • Special events setup and teardown
  • Other maintenance duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum 1 year experience repairing commercial arcade or amusement equipment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Experience using multimeters and diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of low‑voltage electrical systems.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred
  • Experience with Betson, Eloat, ICE Games, Bay Tek Games, Raw Thrills, Andamiro, Sega, Namco/Bandai Namco.
  • Experience with Embed or Intercard card systems.
  • Soldering experience.
  • PCB‑level diagnostics.
  • PLC troubleshooting.
  • Basic networking knowledge.
  • MaintainX experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Work safely around energized electrical equipment.
  • Operate power and hand tools.
Performance Expectations
  • Maintain a high percentage of operational games during business hours.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on schedule.
  • Respond promptly to game failures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in MaintainX.
  • Communicate repair status and parts needs proactively.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Assist with general maintenance needs while keeping the arcade as the primary operational focus.
