The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Our in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities, providing a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure activities, counseling, and spiritual guidance. Position: Production Assistant (Truck Driver)

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Production Assistant (Truck Driver) responsible for completing driving routes for pickups and drop-offs of donations at the warehouse, donation boxes, and donor homes.

Responsibilities

1. Vehicle Safety and Operation: Ensure the security and safe operation of the vehicle and report any accidents or issues immediately.
2. Vehicle Inspection: Conduct daily walk-around inspections and report problems.
3. Vehicle Cleanliness: Keep the truck cab and box clean and free of personal items.
4. Routing and Scheduling: Plan daily routes and make scheduled calls, including to donation boxes.
5. Route Development: Develop routes with proper bagging or carding on both sides and across the street of each pickup.
6. Customer Service and Representation: Treat customers courteously, accept or refuse donations appropriately, and follow the 'Manual for Production Assistants'. Maintain a professional appearance.
7. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records such as delivery manifests, trip logs, and communication logs.
8. Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload goods, securing items properly to prevent damage during transit.
9. Assistance at Thrift Store: Help store personnel with delivery placement and store maintenance tasks.
10. Supervision: Instruct and supervise the Truck Helper, serving as a positive role model.
11. Program Support: Support the work therapy program by demonstrating professional conduct and supervision.
12. Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

1. Effective communication skills.
2. Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record; must pass a driving test.
3. Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
4. Ability to read maps and plan routes.
5. Proficiency with iPad, GPS, texting, and truck inspection reports.
6. Excellent customer service skills.
7. Medical card as required by local regulations.
8. Successful passing of a DOT physical is mandatory; failure may result in employment termination.
