The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods, we provide financial support to assist men and women with social and spiritual challenges. Our in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities, providing a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure activities, counseling, and spiritual guidance. Our goal is to develop life skills and foster a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Each team member contributes to recycling goods that help repair broken lives.
Position: Production Assistant (Truck Driver)
The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Production Assistant (Truck Driver) responsible for completing driving routes for pickups and drop-offs of donations at the warehouse, donation boxes, and donor homes.
Responsibilities
- Vehicle Safety and Operation: Ensure the security and safe operation of the vehicle and report any accidents or issues immediately.
- Vehicle Inspection: Conduct daily walk-around inspections and report problems.
- Vehicle Cleanliness: Keep the truck cab and box clean and free of personal items.
- Routing and Scheduling: Plan daily routes and make scheduled calls, including to donation boxes.
- Route Development: Develop routes with proper bagging or carding on both sides and across the street of each pickup.
- Customer Service and Representation: Treat customers courteously, accept or refuse donations appropriately, and follow the 'Manual for Production Assistants'. Maintain a professional appearance.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records such as delivery manifests, trip logs, and communication logs.
- Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload goods, securing items properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Assistance at Thrift Store: Help store personnel with delivery placement and store maintenance tasks.
- Supervision: Instruct and supervise the Truck Helper, serving as a positive role model.
- Program Support: Support the work therapy program by demonstrating professional conduct and supervision.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
- Effective communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record; must pass a driving test.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to read maps and plan routes.
- Proficiency with iPad, GPS, texting, and truck inspection reports.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Medical card as required by local regulations.
- Successful passing of a DOT physical is mandatory; failure may result in employment termination.
