Scope and Purpose of Position

The position is responsible for the timely and acceptable application of various AR coatings to in-process lenses according to work instructions.

Essential Functions

  1. Removes the lenses from their respective job trays and places them in the dip coating racks for processing.
  2. Places the loaded racks in the dip coater.
  3. Cures the coated lenses in the appropriate curing chamber.
  4. Places the cured lenses in the appropriately sized coating rings and load the rings in the dome.
  5. Loads the domes into the vacuum chambers, selects the correct recipe, charges chemicals, and applies AR coating.
  6. Inspects lenses prior to and immediately after the coating process.
  7. Analyzes the coating results and adjusts the machine to control the proper mix of chemicals on the lenses.
  8. Upon the completion of the coating, ensures the lenses are placed back in the appropriate job envelope and sent on for re-marrying to the correct tray.
  9. On a daily basis, tests chemicals and pH to be used in anti-reflective coating processes.
  10. Adjusts chemical mixtures to appropriate levels for processing.
  11. After the envelope is re-married back to the correct tray, scans job out and brings to the appropriate department.
  12. Ensures and maintains the cleanliness of equipment and workstation.
  13. Practices and complies with all requirements of our Quality Management System (QMS), prescribed safety and hazardous materials handling procedures, and Federal/State laws regulating hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal.

Education & Experience

  1. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Minimum 1 year of related manufacturing experience preferred.
  3. Must be able to read English to understand written procedures, hazardous warnings, etc.
  4. Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  5. Ability to think logically in following procedures and instructions.
  6. General problem-solving abilities.
  7. Ability to work varying schedules to include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  8. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand, use hands and fingers to handle, feel, pick or pinch, and talk or hear most of the time. The associate is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The noise level in this location is moderate (use of computers, printers, and machines).
