Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts is seeking an Arborist Climber Trainee for Martha's Vineyard, MA. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience in pruning, rigging, cabling, removal, and tree identification as part of a professional tree care crew.

You will learn safety procedures, operate hand tools and equipment, and support climbing teams while advancing your arboriculture knowledge through internal programs and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Passion for nature, environment and outdoors.
• Willingness to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Positive attitude and ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team.
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required.
• Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture or related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Learn through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including tree climbing, pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, removal of hazardous trees, tree identification.
• Properly maintain and operate equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Implement work zone safety procedures.
• Assist Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping and parking duties.
• Learn, understand and adhere to all safety rules and company safety policies.
