Blue Pine Works is hiring a part-time Arboricultural Administrative Assistant to support the clients, vendors, and team behind a growing professional arboriculture and environmental company.
This is more than a receptionist position and it is not a “figure it out on your own” small-business role.
We have spent significant time developing the structure, workflows, tools, and support behind this position. The person who joins us will be trained on the work they are responsible for, supported as they learn it, and given clear paths for escalating questions or situations that fall outside their role.
The goal is not to have one person know everything.
The goal is to have someone whose primary purpose is to help the people around our company stay supported, informed, and connected - and who knows when to handle something themselves and when to bring in the right person for help.
You will help support the day-to-day relationships and administrative work that keep Blue Pine Works operating well.
You will not be expected to make technical, financial, personnel, legal, or other specialized decisions outside your role.
When something falls outside the established process, your job is to recognize that and bring it to the appropriate person.
That is part of doing the job correctly.
We do not believe management exists to hover over people or control every decision.
Management’s responsibility is to provide direction, education, support, and the resources needed for someone to succeed in their role.
We expect people to become more capable and independent as they learn - but independence comes from training, experience, and good systems, not from being abandoned to solve unfamiliar problems alone.
You do not need prior arboriculture or tree care experience.
We will teach the industry-specific information necessary for the position.
Administrative, customer-service, scheduling, records-management, service-business, or similar experience is helpful, but attitude, judgment, organization, communication, and willingness to learn matter just as much.
This position has substantial room to grow.
You will begin with a defined set of responsibilities and build competence within them. As your knowledge, confidence, and ability increase, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility and develop additional skills.
We do not expect someone to arrive ready to do everything.
We expect to help them develop.
If the position is performed well and the person in it helps strengthen client relationships, vendor coordination, administrative systems, and team support, the role can naturally expand with the company.
That may include the opportunity for the position to become full time.
We view that growth as something the person in the role helps create through good work, stronger systems, and increased capability - not simply because management keeps piling more tasks onto them.
Eligible full-time employees have access to Blue Pine Works’ full benefits package.
Blue Pine Works is a tree care company, but that is only one part of what we are building.
Our work spans arboriculture, plant health care, tree risk assessment, consulting, forestry, training, workforce development, and long-term property stewardship.
We work with homeowners, landowners, municipalities, businesses, industry partners, and other professionals. Some relationships last for a single project. Others develop over years as we help people understand their trees, manage their property, solve difficult problems, and make better long-term decisions.
We are also actively building the company itself.
That means developing better systems, creating career paths, investing in training, improving how our industry serves people, and giving employees the opportunity to grow into larger roles as their abilities develop.
For someone who is not an arborist, that means you are not being hired simply to “work at a tree company.”
You are joining a small professional organization where administration, client relationships, education, operations, technical expertise and field work all have to function together.
The administrative team is not separate from the mission. It is part of how we deliver it.
The person in this position will have a meaningful role in how clients experience Blue Pine Works, how effectively our team communicates, how relationships with vendors and partners develop, and how well the company functions as it grows.
Because we are a small company, good work is noticed. Ideas can actually influence how things are done. People have access to leadership. Training is personal. Growth does not require waiting for someone above you to leave.
We want to build a company where capable people can develop careers, not just hold jobs.
Blue Pine Works LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
