Job summary

Jerome Home is seeking a Waitstaff to serve meals to Arbor Rose residents at New Britain, CT. Duties include pre-meal setup, taking orders and ensuring timely, courteous service in a clean dining room. Two part-time and one full-time position are available; full-time includes PTO and benefits.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior waitstaff or elderly/disabled care experience is desirable. Training and scheduling are supported by online programs and payroll systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience as a Waitstaff or in a food service environment desirable.
• Experience working with the elderly and/or disabled is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-meal setup including filling water pitchers, butter containers, linens and dinnerware.
• Explain menu selections to residents and guests and discuss ingredients used in dishes.
• Take all food orders clearly and precisely.
• Assure quality table service with a cheerful, courteous attitude and adapt to residents’ needs.
• Time and coordinate delivery of food to ensure correct temperature.
• Post-meal cleanup including removing dinnerware and cleaning dining area.
• Maintain high personal hygiene and wear Arbor Rose name tag.
• Promote resident satisfaction with timely responses to needs and requests.
• Follow policies, procedures and laws relevant to the role.
• Keep work areas clean and free of hazards.
• Distribute and collect menus as necessary.
• Obtain food supplies for next meal as directed.

Purpose of Your Job Position

Reporting to the Dining Director, the Waitstaff serves meals to the residents of Arbor Rose in a timely, pleasant and professional manner, while maintaining a clean and orderly dining room and kitchen prep area. We have 2 part time and 1 full time position available. Full Time is benefit eligible and accrues Paid Time Off (PTO)

We have several on-line programs currently being used by our staff:

• Shifthound is our on-line scheduling program. At the click of a button, you can request time off or request to pick up a shift. You can also send email/text notification to request coverage of an open shift.
• Relias is our on-line education program. Classes are assigned via email for you to complete in the allotted time at your own pace.
• Paylocity is our online payroll system. We are all direct deposit and you are able to view your check right online. In addition, we communicate to staff through this system.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Dining Service

• Conduct pre-meal set up including but not limited to filling water pitchers, filling butter containers, placing linens and setting out dinnerware and utensils
• Explain menu selections to residents and/or guests so that they are fully aware of all the menu items that are available; understand and articulate knowledge of the ingredients used in preparing all dishes on the menu. Understand and explain all alternative menu choices available
• Take all food orders clearly and precisely
• Assure quality table service by utilizing proper service techniques, and exhibiting a cheerful, courteous and positive attitude while adapting to the various needs of each resident
• Time delivery of food from the kitchen and expedite food delivery to residents. Follow proper sequence of food delivery to insure food arrives to the table at the correct temperature
• Conduct post meal clean-up including but not limited to removing all dinnerware to kitchen, vacuuming dining room, and cleaning chairs.
• Maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene and adhere to the department uniform policy including the continuous wearing of an Arbor Rose authorized name tag.
• Responsible for promoting an environment that results in resident satisfaction by exhibiting a positive attitude and timely response to resident needs and requests.
• Follow department and Arbor Rose policies and procedures and federal, state and local laws and regulations, where applicable
• All other duties as required and consistent with the education and skills required for this position.
• Keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
• Distribute and collect menus as necessary.
• Obtain food supplies for next meal as directed.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent certificate preferred.

Experience

• Previous experience as a Waitstaff or in a food service environment desirable.
• Previous experience working with the elderly and/or disabled in a paid or volunteer position is highly desirable.
