Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Arabic Consecutive Linguist in Arlington, VA to support defense legal teams with interviews of detainees and witnesses. The role covers translation, interpretation, and transcription for court preparation and Military Commissions proceedings in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, with extensive travel.

Requirements include 5+ years of related experience, BA/BS or equivalent, TS/SCI clearance, ILR 3 in Arabic and ILR 3 in English, and willingness to deploy to overseas locations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related work experience.
• BA/BS or equivalent formal military training or related experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
• Must be available for 60% travel.
• Achieve a minimum score of an ILR 3 in Arabic and ILR 3 in English (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing).
• Demonstrated history of translation projects maintaining meaning.
• Ability to translate/interpret general and legal materials.

Responsibilities

• Review Arabic source material and prepare accurate translations or transcripts in idiomatic English.
• Provide interpretation, translation, and transcription support for detainees and witnesses.
• Interpret consecutively as required and reproduce the speaker's message after pauses.
• Translate between English and Arabic with accuracy and thoroughness.
• Transcribe audio/video material into English.
