Job summary

CBS News 24/7, the digital streaming operation from CBS News, is seeking a San Francisco based freelance AR/VR ELC Director. You will direct in active breaking news environments and lead dynamic virtual newscasts with show producers.

In this role you’ll call the shots from the virtual studio, triggering augmented reality elements to augment storytelling while coordinating with anchors and crews in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in live news production is required.
• Previous Control Room Automation use is desired; Sony ELC experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of iNews preferred.
• Ability to work in fast paced, high-pressure environment.
• Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude & leadership qualities with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities a must.
• Excellent people and communication skills needed.
• Good conflict resolution and problem-solving skills are a must

Responsibilities

• Direct and choreograph live AR/VR newscasts in a breaking news environment.
• Collaborate with show producers to create dynamic visual presentations in a virtual space.
• Verbally call the shots from the control room as the anchor operates the virtual studio environment.
• Utilize gear such as Zero Density Virtual Production, Sony ELC automation, and Sony XVS switchers to enhance storytelling.

CBS News 24/7, the digital streaming operation from CBS News is looking for a San Francisco based freelance AR/VR ELC Director.

The ideal candidate is a great communicator, has current experience directing in active breaking news environments, has strong organizational skills and can break out of the mold of a coded newscast and pivot to breaking news when the moment happens.

As an ELC director you’ll be working with show producers creating dynamic visual newscasts in a virtual space. You’ll be verbally calling the shots as the anchor works the virtual studio environment with the jib camera following along as you trigger augmented reality objects to help enhance the storytelling.
