Job summary

CBS News and Stations in Baltimore, MD is seeking a skilled Newscast Director to lead live broadcasts, streaming shows, and sports specials with precision. You will direct fast-paced productions, troubleshoot on the fly, and coordinate with producers to maintain high quality under pressure.

The role demands 3+ years of directing live news, proficiency with Sony ELC, and strong knowledge of graphics systems like Chyron ISQ/LUCI, iNews, and control room tech.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3+ years of experience coding and directing 'live' newscasts and other productions in a small to medium market.
• Familiarity with Sony ELC for automated production.
• Hands-on experience with Chyron ISQ and ChyronHego LUCI, with the ability to integrate and manage on-screen graphics during live broadcasts.
• Ability to multitask effectively in a live news broadcast environment.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of control room and studio equipment, including switchers, audio boards, and video servers.
• Experience with newsroom computer systems; iNews experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proven ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to work any shift in a 24/7/365 working environment, including weekends, overnights, and holidays.
• Excellent computer skills on common platforms, with a strong focus on troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Direct live, fast-paced newscasts and webcasts using the Sony ELC system.
• Direct in an AR/VR dynamic set for News, Sports and Weather.
• Provide studio support and coordinate live and recorded broadcasts.
• Collaborate with producers and the news department to deliver high-quality, technically sound productions.
• Apply technical and creative skills to produce visually engaging content within standards.
• Direct and support sports and entertainment programs, in studio and remote environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during live broadcasts to ensure uninterrupted delivery.
