Job summary

YMCA at North Rutherford is hiring an Aquatics Team Leader for a part-time role. You will oversee lifeguards, ensure safe pool operations, and maintain a welcoming environment for members.

Responsibilities include scheduling and training staff, monitoring chemical levels, and promoting YMCA aquatics programs while upholding safety standards and excellent guest service. Starting pay is $14 per hour, with increases based on experience.

Qualifications

• 500+ hours lifeguarding experience
• Ability to lead and mentor others
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience with pool operations and chemical testing; CPO preferred

• Ensure the pool and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and ready for members.

• Model and enforce YMCA safety standards and pool rules while addressing concerns promptly.

What You’ll Do:

What We’re Looking For:

• At least 500 hours and two seasons of lifeguarding experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor others.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a passion for service.
• Experience with pool operations and testing pool chemicals; Certified Pool Operator certification preferred.

Certifications Required:

• Before your first shift: New Hire Orientation and American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Within six months of hire: Certification in Adult Mental Health First Aid USA.
