Job summary

YMCA OF BEAVER COUNTY 9 is seeking a part-time swim instructor to ensure participant safety and deliver high quality instruction in our aquatic programs, including preschool, youth swimming, and parent/child classes.

Candidates must hold current WSI or YSLI or related certification and CPR certification; prior aquatics experience is preferred. You will prepare lesson plans, maintain safety standards, and document progress.

Qualifications

• Must hold WSI or YSLI certification or equivalent instructor experience.
• CPR certification is required.
• Prior aquatics instruction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction in YMCA aquatic programs (preschool, youth swimming, parent/child).
• Ensure safety regulations and proper supervision during classes.
• Maintain lesson plans, skill sheets, and progress reports in a timely manner.
• Promote the YMCA mission and develop a positive learning environment.

Qualifications: Possess current WSI, YSLI, or related job experience & current CPR Certification

Basic Function: Responsible for the safety of participants during the program and deliver high quality & appropriate instruction to program participants.

GENERAL Functions:

• Provide direct instruction in programs including but not limited to: YMCA Parent/child, Preschool, and Youth Swimming programs, and YMCA Gym and Swim programs.
• Assure that proper safety regulations and conditions are maintained.
• Maintain professional conduct and neat appearance consistent with the Aquatic Dress Policy.
• Keep updated skills sheets and lesson plans.
• Fill out progress reports thoroughly in a timely manner.
• Work effectively with children and adults in a learning situation based on individual needs.
• Have all equipment, skill sheets, and lesson plans ready for class.
• Teach with enthusiasm and using positive reinforcement.
• Instruct classes in accordance with YMCA policies, including covering all class components and using proper teaching techniques.
• Be aware of the other YMCA programs and schedules, sharing the information with participants.
• Always promote the YMCA mission
• Suggest improvements.
• Attend training and meetings as requested by supervisor
• Perform all other functions as assigned, relative to the welfare of the association.
