Job summary

YMCA is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to teach swimming to students of varying ages and abilities, following the YMCA lesson curriculum. The role emphasizes building positive relationships with students and their parents while maintaining a safe aquatic environment.

Ideal candidates have a background in aquatics, the ability to demonstrate proper strokes, and strong organizational and communication skills in a noisy setting. Flexible hours and ongoing certification support are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of and ability to demonstrate and teach proper swim strokes and skills.
• Aquatics background with experience as a swim instructor preferred.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills to effectively interact with swimmers, parents and staff.
• Patience, problem-solving ability, creativity and the ability to work in a noisy environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide swimming instruction to students of various ages and ability levels, from preschool through adult.
• Teach in accordance with the YMCA Swim Lesson program curriculum and maintain a safe, friendly aquatic learning environment.
• Communicate progress, concerns, and questions with students and parents regularly.

$10.25/hour ($12.20/hour with a lifeguard certification)

Swim Instructors will provide swimming instruction to students of various ages and ability levels, from preschool through adult. Lessons are taught in accordance with the YMCA Swim Lesson program Curriculum. Critical to your success as an instructor, the Y's continued reputation as a provider of highest quality swim instruction, is the relationship that you build with your students and their parents. This will be accomplished through positive and regular communications with students and parents relative to progress, concerns, questions and suggestions, while maintaining a safe and friendly aquatic learning environment. Ideal candidates will be at least 15 years old, and have the ability to work 2+ days per week. Variety of shifts available.
