Job summary

Crossroads YMCA in Crown Point, IN is seeking a part-time Pool Attendant for the Dean & Barbara White Southlake YMCA. Pay starts at $10.00 per hour and increases with experience.

You will help create a safe, welcoming pool environment for members, guests, and program participants, assist with check-ins, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies. Join a friendly aquatics team focused on safety, service, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Ability to enforce rules and safely operate or monitor designated attractions and areas.
• Ability to respond appropriately to safety concerns and emergency situations.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate and build positive relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous aquatics, recreation, customer service, or related experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the surrounding pool area and ensure members and guests are following proper use and safety expectations.
• Check members and guests into programs accurately and provide helpful, friendly service.
• Know and review emergency procedures and respond immediately and appropriately to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
• Assist with emergencies and support staff as needed.
• Complete required reports and documentation related to safety or emergency situations.
• Assist staff with gathering supplies and preparing the area as needed.
• Help enforce rules and safely operate or monitor designated attractions and areas.
• Remain calm, professional, and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
• Model the Crossroads YMCA Staff Pledge to help ensure every participant has a great experience.
• Support the Aquatics team and other departments with additional duties as needed.
