Job summary

Fitz's Fish Ponds in Colts Neck Township, NJ, is seeking a friendly Retail Store Associate who will engage with customers, assist with in-store purchases, and provide product information. You will manage cash register operations, maintain aquariums, help with inventory, restock shelves, and support outdoor tasks as needed.

Weekend availability and a high school diploma are required; familiarity with ponds or aquariums is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of retail or customer-service experience.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be available for varied weekly shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Familiarity with ponds, aquariums, or aquatic plants is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to promote products and build brand relationships.
• Assist multiple customers, multitask, and handle projects.
• Support inventory management, fill orders, recalls, and replenishment.
• Plan and prioritize tasks to meet customer and business needs.
• Handle cash register responsibly.
• Clean and maintain koi, plants, and store tanks during shifts.
• Keep outdoor area well-maintained; perform leaf blowing, weeding, and planting.
• Restock and tidy shelves; communicate restock needs to management.
• Refer customers to other departments when appropriate.
• Perform other duties as needed.
