Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools is seeking a full-time Aquatics administrator to oversee the Tonka Swim School within Minnetonka Aquatics. Responsibilities include program scheduling, daily operations, staff development, and curriculum updates in partnership with the Community Education leadership team.

The role requires ARC lifeguard and instructor certifications, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate with clerical and custodial staff to keep facilities safe and up to date.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred at an accredited college or university.
• Experience in Aquatics as an instructor, coach, or administrator for at least 2 years.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with Deep Water Certification required.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Certification required or obtainable within 90 days.
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor preferred.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Teacher Certification preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator License preferred.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and public relations skills.
• Evidence of passion for working with children.
• Positive interpersonal skills; ability to relate to both children and adults.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Proven punctuality and responsibility.
• Ability to lead a team to respond to emergencies per ARC standards.
• Strong understanding of water safety and swim instruction fundamentals for children.

Responsibilities

• Operations Management: onsite supervisor to ensure staff conduct programming safely and effectively.
• Customer Service and Communication: interact with participant families, assist with registration, answer questions.
• Management and Staff: hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and provide professional development.
• Update and improve curriculum based on observations and feedback.
• Plan class schedules and create classes online for registration; monitor waitlists and staffing.
• Coordinate with the Director of Aquatics and other staff for facility utilization.
• Collaborate with clerical staff to ensure website accuracy and manage billing inquiries.
• Collaborate with Aquatics, MCE, custodial staff to keep facilities safe and maintained; perform equipment checks.
• Conduct payroll biweekly; work with HR and Payroll to update files.
• Maintain ARC Lifeguard certifications.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature.
