Job summary

The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking an Aquatics Program Coordinator to lead the development and operation of the university's aquatic programs. You will train lifeguards and instructors, manage budgets and policies, and plan travel and events while building partnerships across campus.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree, CPR/First Aid certification, and relevant aquatics experience; master’s degree and advanced certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; experience in developing and operating a recreation program; CPR & First Aid certification or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Recreation Management, Student Affairs or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of directly related aquatics experience within a collegiate recreation program preferred.
  • Current CPO, LGIT, WSIT certifications.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and monitor short and long-range planning for aquatic programs, including training for lifeguards and water safety instructors; monthly training clinics and certifications.
  • Develop and implement the University’s swimming classes, lessons, and certification courses, including teaching as an instructor.
  • Hire and supervise part-time and student staff, including scheduling and performance reviews.
  • Oversee maintenance and operations of the pool and pump room.
  • Conduct annual program evaluations and instructor assessments; track progress with measurable systems.
  • Manage equipment purchasing and annual inventory; ensure equipment is functional before each semester.
  • Develop and implement risk management protocols and safety audits.
  • Collect and report monthly participation records.
