Job summary

City of New York is seeking a Recreation Director for NYC Parks Aquatics to plan, supervise and promote aquatic programs across indoor and outdoor pools. You will lead staff, develop curricula, ensure safety and deliver excellent customer service to diverse communities in NYC.

The role requires a relevant degree with credits in recreation, plus experience in planning and supervising programs. Strong organizational and communication skills, and availability for afternoons/evenings/weekends are

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 24 credits in recreation or related fields.
  • Associate degree + 1 year paid experience in recreation planning.
  • High school diploma + 3 years paid recreation experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted with credits substitution.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise and promote Aquatics programs in assigned area.
  • Instruct participants in aquatic safety and basic fitness.
  • Maintain equipment, inventory and report hazards.
  • Develop curricula and evaluate program outcomes.
  • Supervise Aquatics staff and promote center memberships.
  • Provide excellent customer service and teamwork.
