RTH achieves its mission through property management, construction and rehabilitation of properties, provision of social and educational services, workforce development, and community activism. As one of the oldest grassroots tenant organizations, RTH is committed to defending the rights to quality, affordable housing for people of all races and cultures, and promoting tenant empowerment through active tenant participation in leadership and development.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Aquatics Program Manager at RTH who will play a crucial role advancing health equity, improving health outcomes, and promoting wellbeing through engaging and safe aquatic programs. Working closely with the Senior Program Director and the Human Resources Director, they plan, develop, implement, and evaluate high-quality community-based programs. Responsibilities include managing all phases of aquatics initiatives, ensuring compliance with guidelines and policies, and leading daily operations to maintain optimal safety standards. Additionally, they oversee the recruitment, training, and evaluation of aquatics staff, interns, and volunteers, ensuring proper credentialing.

Responsibilities:

Administrative:

  • Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operation of aquatic programs, including planning, promotion, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local regulations, develop and implement risk management policies, and conduct emergency drills.
  • Manage pool maintenance, oversee filtration systems, and monitor water chemistry.
  • Supervise, recruit, train, and evaluate aquatics staff, including lifeguards, instructors, and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping, handle payroll, and respond to inquiries and complaints.
  • Develop and implement emergency action plans and curriculum, ensuring alignment with RTH's mission and values.
  • Research best practices and innovative program models, and oversee program budgets and schedules.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and constituents, including staff, board members, and community members.

Program:

  • Teach swim lessons, lifeguard, or assist in aquatics duties as needed.
  • Facilitate resident involvement and engagement through outreach and community building.
  • Provide upkeep of pool facilities and equipment to support program participation.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Prioritize safety and model RTH core values.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and support to staff.
  • Passionate about working with diverse populations and building relationships.
  • Experienced in recruiting, managing, and evaluating staff and volunteers.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and creativity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED, First Aid, and lifeguard certifications required.
  • Advanced safety training and/or aquatics certifications preferred.
  • Must have a CPO or working towards one.
  • Minimum 2 years of recreation/aquatics-related experience, with prior leadership experience.
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Culturally competent and able to work with diverse populations.
  • Passion for service and improving community aquatics programs.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to interact physically and verbally with participants.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the job, including stamina and agility.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform various physical activities.
