Job summary

YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids seeks a Lead Aquatics Specialist for the Cal Community Center YMCA. The role combines on-deck lifeguarding, swim instruction, and staff supervision with 50% admin duties. You’ll ensure safety, deliver quality programming, and mentor the aquatics team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Emergency response and lifesaving skills demonstrated.
• Proficient in computer use for registrations and rosters.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible pool deck presence with lifeguarding, lessons, and staff support.
• Orientate new staff and supervise shifts; manage rosters.
• Record chemical readings and enforce safety rules and emergency procedures.
• Lead lifeguard in-service trainings and lifeguard certifications as needed.
• Assist with scheduling and support Aquatic Director in audits.
