City of Carlsbad is seeking a Maintenance Worker I to perform routine and preventative maintenance at the city’s aquatic facilities, including pools, spas, and related infrastructure. The role supports safe, reliable operations under supervision and progresses to more complex tasks with guidance from the Aquatics Maintenance Supervisor.

Responsibilities include inspecting facilities, operating pumps and chemical systems, performing basic plumbing/electrical work, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Experience performing semi-skilled maintenance tasks in building trades, facility maintenance operations, mechanical systems, or related fields.
• Experience in aquatic facilities, recreation facilities, or public agency maintenance operations is highly desirable.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license or ability to obtain one within six months.

Responsabilités

• Perform inspection, maintenance and repair to aquatic facilities, including pools, spas, splash pads, buildings, grounds, and related equipment.
• Identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and required repairs of facilities, equipment, and mechanical systems.
• Assist with maintenance, operation, and repair of aquatic mechanical systems such as circulation pumps, filters, heaters, chemical feed systems, and automated controllers.
• Perform plumbing repairs including replacement of valves, fittings, fixtures, and related components; assist with piping, pumps, and equipment repairs.
• Perform minor electrical maintenance and repairs such as fixture, switch, ballast, and motor replacements.
• Maintain and repair aquatic equipment including lifeguard stands, pool covers, water play equipment, signage, and related facility equipment.
• Perform minor carpentry, painting, and masonry repairs; assist with cleaning and upkeep of pool decks and mechanical rooms.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, and City vehicles as needed.
• Assist with inventory, purchasing, and organization of maintenance supplies, chemicals, materials, and equipment.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
