Job summary

City of Rosemead is hiring part-time aquatics staff to monitor pools, teach swimming classes, and enforce safety rules at City recreation facilities. Candidates must meet physical and certification requirements and be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Employees are considered at-will; the department will provide certification training. Duties include supervising patrons, maintaining logs, and assisting with programming events in the Parks & Recreation Department.

Qualifications

• Must be able to swim 500 yards within 10 minutes.
• Must pass a 2-minute water tread test and brick tow under 1:15.
• Must be sixteen (16) years of age or older with a valid work permit if applicable.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instructor (WSI), and CPR/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certificates required within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor aquatics facility and guests; enforce rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
• Teach swimming classes and water safety.
• Provide customer services and information to guests; respond to complaints and safety issues.
• Perform pool and facility maintenance; test water chemistry and balance chemicals.
• Organize and coordinate special events and daily operations reports.
