Job summary

The City of Westminster, Colorado is seeking a Head Lifeguard to lead the lifeguard team and ensure guest safety in a fast-paced aquatics setting.

This safety-sensitive role trains and mentors lifeguards, conducts in-service trainings, verifies certifications, and manages day-to-day pool operations with a focus on prevention and professional service. Strong leadership, communication, and commitment to safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 17 years old.
• One year of lifeguard experience at a year-round pool or two summers at seasonal pool.
• CPR/AED, Basic First Aid and Lifeguard Training certifications.
• Ability to obtain StarGuard Lifeguard Instructor certification within one year.
• Ability to obtain Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to lifeguard team and ensure pool safety.
• Lead daily operations and in-service trainings.
• Oversee lifeguard certifications and programming.
• Enforce pool safety rules professionally with the public.
• Lead monthly in-service trainings and lifeguard class instruction.
• Maintain water quality and assist in equipment maintenance.
• Communicate with staff and guests while upholding SPIRIT values.
• Pass the City of Westminster’s swim and lifeguard skills test.
