Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County in Mukwonago, Wisconsin is seeking an Aquatics Director to oversee planning, development, supervision and administration of all aquatic programming.

Under the Executive Director, you will recruit, train, and manage lifeguards and swim instructors, ensure safety compliance, manage budgets, and foster community partnerships while leading staff and coordinating program offerings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
• One to two years related experience preferred (e.g., aquatics coordinator, supervisor, or assistant director).
• Minimum age of 21.
• Current Lifeguard (American Red Cross or YMCA), CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED certification.
• Lifeguard Instructor Certification and Certified Pool Operator preferred or be willing to obtain within six months of hire.
• Strong organizational abilities as well as oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities

• Ensures daily care of members through supervision of aquatics staff.
• Recruit, train, and schedule aquatics staff and plan ongoing training (lifeguards and swim instructors).
• Develop strategies to recruit staff, onboard and develop them for success.
• Conduct lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings; ensure staff certifications are current.
• Ensure programs meet community needs; supervise activities, assist in marketing information.
• Monitor daily pool operations to adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Build relationships with community organizations; maintain clear communication.
• Manage program including budget, statistics, facilities, and class scheduling.
• Serve on staff leadership team; participate in meetings and fundraising; assist with annual campaign.
• Manage safety and risk portfolio; contribute to Association Safety and Risk Cabinet.
• Attend and participate in Association Aquatics Cabinet.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
