Job summary

Spring Valley YMCA in Royersford, PA is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead a vibrant team and deliver exceptional member service. You will manage daily operations, safety standards, and aquatic programming, while fostering an inclusive, high-energy environment that engages the community.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, leadership experience in fitness or hospitality, and a path to Red Cross Lifeguard and YMCA swim lesson instructor certifications after hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Graduate or Equivalent.
• Experience in fitness, retail, recreation management or hospitality industries.
• Experience supervising and managing preferred.
• Pursue American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and YMCA swim lesson instructor certification after hire.

Responsibilities

• Understand overall branch revenue and program goals, plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department goals, membership goals and member engagement.
• Champion a culture where teams love to work, and members love to visit; recognize member-centered behaviors and reward outstanding performance.
• Create and sustain an environment that values all people for their unique talents and promote diversity, inclusion, global engagement, and cultural competence.
• Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (early morning, evening, weekends).
• Ensure the swimming facility meets or exceeds Aquatic Safety Standards.
• Facilitate monthly in-service meetings with skill review.
• Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool; coordinate breaks and rotate staff; monitor staff performance and member service.
• Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness.
• Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising the pool area and monitoring signs of distress.
