Job summary

The National Aquarium is looking for a Life Support Engineer to manage daily operations of our exhibit's life support systems. The role includes monitoring water levels, operating large sand filters, and collaborating closely with staff on maintaining exhibit environments.

Qualified candidates will understand water filtration and have mechanical aptitude. Competitive hourly pay, overtime eligibility, and a comprehensive benefits package are offered after 30 days of work.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of water chemistry and aquarium keeping preferred.
  • Able to climb ladders safely and work in small spaces.
  • Demonstrate complex problem-solving skills during emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate life support systems for various aquarium exhibits.
  • Document daily log sheets and computer entries.
  • Comply with all safety protocols established by National Aquarium.

Skills

Knowledge of water filtration
Basic mechanical aptitude
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
Basic swimming skills
