Job summary

Nashville Zoo seeks a Life Support Systems (LSS) Technician in the Ectotherm Department to maintain filtration systems for aquatic exhibits and assist with off-exhibit tanks. The role includes light construction, vehicle operation, and safeguarding exhibit integrity and aquatic plant life.

Public education sessions and keeper talks may be part of duties while ensuring a clean, safe environment for visitors. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Zoology, animal biology, animal husbandry or related field beneficial, and experience with plumbing, pool maintenance, or pump rebuilding beneficial.
• Experience with LSS equipment or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Monitor filtration systems and aquatic habitats.
• Test and maintain water quality per species requirements.
• Perform plumbing repairs and pump maintenance.
• Operate light to medium equipment and assist with exhibits.
• Engage the public through keeper talks and educational sessions.
