Job summary

City of Orlando Careers seeks a skilled herbicide applicator to work at aquatic and terrestrial sites across Orlando. You will follow supervisor instructions to apply herbicides, controlling unwanted vegetation without damaging desirable plants or private property.

Requires a high school diploma or GED, a Florida driver's license, a restricted pesticide license (aquatic/right-of-way), and CPR/First Aid certification. Training is provided under a licensed supervisor.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Performs skilled herbicide application work at numerous aquatic and terrestrial sites throughout the City of Orlando. The employee in this position is responsible for following the supervisor's instructions in applying herbicides. Herbicides are applied to control unwanted vegetation without damaging desired vegetation and private property. Performs normal and some specialized maintenance in aforementioned work areas. Work is performed under the supervision of a licensed supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED; one (1) year of experience in right-of-way and aquatic herbicide application; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Valid Florida Restricted Pesticide License in the aquatic and right-of-way categories required. CPR and First Aid certification required.

Experience Equivalency

• Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
• Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
