The City of New York, Department of Social Services, is seeking a Social Worker to join Adult Protective Services (APS). Under supervision, you will provide psychosocial services to individuals or families, using casework, group work or community organization techniques.

Requirements include a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a NY LMSW or LCSW license within one year of appointment; failure to obtain may extend probation.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school.
• Valid LMSW or LCSW license within one year of appointment; license must be obtained and maintained for duration.
• Experience with APS or protective services is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Apply social work skills to consult with caseworkers and supervisors on complex cases involving abuse, self-neglect, neglect, and resistance to APS efforts.
• Contribute clinical findings to multidisciplinary team meetings and provide appropriate follow-up.
• Complete psychosocial assessments for supportive housing applications and other services, gathering information through consultations with caseworkers and by accompanying case workers on home visits.
• Link clients with other public and private programs that can provide appropriate services.
• Collaborate with social workers in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other medical facilities to assist with discharge planning and other matters.
• Assist in the preparation of treatment plans and legal documents required for the pursuit of an Article 81court order.
• Interview and assess APS clients to determine client’s ability to function in the community.
• Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of service referrals and care provision.
