Job Description

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant to assist physicians with clinical duties, including organizing visits and performing procedures. The role involves assessing patients, triaging for pain management and surgical consultations, and potentially assisting in the operating room. Responsibilities also include managing post-operative outpatient care, answering inquiries, and filling prescriptions. There are opportunities for urgent care coverage and after-hours care.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas with APRN license or Physician's Assistant certification
  • Ability to operate standard nursing equipment
  • Normal communication sensory requirements
  • Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions
  • Current BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nursing experience in Neurosurgery or Orthopedics
  • Two years of nursing or PA experience
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA license post-hire
