Job description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP), in partnership with OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois, seeks an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a growing, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality care to children with a wide range of gastrointestinal and nutritional disorders.

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology includes eight faculty members and is actively expanding its clinical programs, supported by the recent approval of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship program. The division offers comprehensive, team-based care through established programs in aerodigestive disorders, intestinal rehabilitation, motility and functional GI disorders, feeding disorders, cystic fibrosis, and obesity management, as well as an home nasogastric (NG) tube program designed to support safe, family-centered care in the outpatient setting.

The APN will play a key role in supporting these specialized programs, including the home NG program, by working closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, enhance patient and caregiver education, and optimize clinical outcomes across inpatient and outpatient settings. This position offers opportunities for professional growth, participation in program development, and involvement in education and quality improvement initiatives within a supportive academic environment.

  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to children with gastrointestinal, nutritional, and related disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Collaborate closely with pediatric gastroenterology faculty and multidisciplinary teams (including surgery, nutrition, and allied health) to coordinate care and optimize clinical outcomes.
  • Participate in the development and expansion of specialized clinical programs, supporting innovative models of care across the division.
  • Contribute to the education of trainees, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals through clinical teaching and mentorship.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, clinical protocol development, and efforts to enhance patient safety, care delivery, and program effectiveness.
  • Support academic and institutional missions through participation in committee work, program development, and (as appropriate) clinical research or scholarly activities.

The budgeted salary range for the position is $105,000 to $130,000 per year.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
