Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Apprentice Welder in Welkom, Free State to join a growing fabrication and manufacturing team. You will learn under master welders, gain exposure to Arc, MIG and TIG welding, and contribute to producing high‑quality metal structures.

The program focuses on safety, skill development, and a clear path to recognized welding qualifications, with hands‑on training and structured mentorship throughout the apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• A strong interest in welding and metal fabrication.
• Basic understanding of welding principles and safety procedures.
• Ability to use tools and machinery safely and accurately.
• Good hand‑eye coordination and physical stamina.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced welders.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior welders in Arc, MIG, and TIG welding.
• Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, and cutting.
• Learn to read welding blueprints and technical specifications.
• Set up welding equipment and maintain it in good condition.
• Perform basic welding tasks under supervision with emphasis on quality.
• Operate welding machines safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized welding station and workshop.
• Follow safety rules to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Assist in inspecting welded joints for defects and quality.
• Participate in training sessions and coursework related to the apprenticeship.
