Placements24 is seeking enthusiastic individuals for a Welder apprenticeship in Welkom. The hybrid role blends hands-on welding in the workshop with potential remote administrative tasks, under guidance of certified welders.

You will learn MIG, TIG, and Arc welding, and gain skills in fabrication, inspection, and safety. The program focuses on practical application and theoretical understanding, preparing you for a career in construction, manufacturing and engineering.

Qualifications

• Keen interest in welding and metal fabrication.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and pay attention to detail.
• Willingness to work in a workshop environment and adapt to varying tasks.
• Basic understanding of mathematics and physics concepts.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Matriculation certificate or equivalent, with preference for technical subjects.
• Ability to commute to the Welkom workshop regularly.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc, etc.) under supervision.
• Read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and fabrication drawings.
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding, including cleaning and grinding.
• Perform welding operations on various types of metals and thicknesses.
• Inspect welds for quality, integrity, and adherence to specifications.
• Operate welding equipment and associated tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintain welding equipment and ensure consumable stock levels are adequate.
• Follow all safety protocols and workplace procedures meticulously.
• Assist with metal preparation, cutting, and assembly tasks.
