Job summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina has openings for Apprentice Linemen for Electric Transmission Operations in the Charleston, SC area. Selected candidates will be responsible for assisting with the construction, operation, and maintenance of overhead and electric lines on our transmission system.

The role requires safety adherence, ability to climb poles up to 225 feet, and availability for after-hours work. It includes completing a four-year apprenticeship with both written and hands-on training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history.
• Ability to obtain CDL-Class A within 6 months of hire.
• Excellent physical condition and mechanical skills, with the ability to work long hours during emergencies or storm restoration.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety rules when working near high/low voltage equipment.
• Regularly climb and work from power poles 50–225 feet or more.
• Safely handle heavy or bulky equipment and materials.
• Respond to work after hours, overtime, callouts, and 24/7 coverage.
• Work outside in inclement weather.
• Complete the four-year apprenticeship training program with written and hands-on instruction.
