Job Summary

The technician will perform repair work on a wide variety of equipment, ranging from complete machine overhauls to minor repairs such as fixing leaks, changing fluids, and filters. Other repairs may include rebuilding components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic cylinders, and hydraulic pumps. Some locations are equipped with test equipment for dyno testing engines, hydraulic pumps, and transmissions. Installations may include undercarriage work on track machines, attachments on plumbing excavators for hammers or scalers, quick coupler attachments on loaders, excavators, and backhoes.

Job Responsibilities

• Participate in and successfully complete the 24-month apprenticeship program, including week-long training sessions and on-the-job training.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and diagnose failures.
• Perform diagnostic functions, check pressures and voltages, locate sources of noise or vibration.
• Disassemble machines, order parts, make repairs, reassemble, and verify operational readiness, ensuring no leaks and proper functioning.
• Clean parts, scrape gaskets, and prepare components for assembly.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in the work environment.
• Travel to job sites and vendor training sessions as needed.

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; a 2-year technical degree or military training is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the heavy equipment industry or a related field.
• Excellent communication and basic mathematical skills.
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and diagnostic software from manufacturers.
• Good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, push, pull, twist, and lift up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to climb and work at heights of up to 15 feet.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Self-motivated and capable of working with limited supervision.
• Maintain excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to pass background checks, physical, and drug screening.
