Job Summary

The technician will perform repair work on a wide variety of equipment, including complete machine overhauls and minor repairs such as fixing leaks, changing fluids and filters. Other tasks may involve rebuilding components like engines, transmissions, hydraulic cylinders, and hydraulic pumps. Some locations are equipped with test equipment for dyno testing engines, hydraulic pumps, and transmissions. Installations may include undercarriages on track machines, attachments on plumbing excavators, quick coupler attachments on loaders, excavators, and backhoes.

Job Responsibilities

• Participate in and successfully complete the 24-month apprenticeship program, which includes week-long training sessions and on-the-job training.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and diagnose failures.
• Perform diagnostic functions, check pressures and voltages, locate sources of noise or vibration.
• Disassemble machines, order parts, make repairs, reassemble, and test to ensure repairs are complete and the unit is leak-free and operational.
• Clean parts, scrape gaskets, and prepare for assembly.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the work environment.
• Travel to job sites and vendor training sessions as needed.

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; a 2-year technical degree or military training is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the heavy equipment industry or a related field.
• Excellent communication and basic mathematical skills.
• Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office and diagnostic software.
• Good knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, and work at heights up to 15 feet.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and independently.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to pass background, physical, and drug screenings.
