Job summary

Penington Painting Company is seeking an Apprentice Painter for industrial spray on a large Santa Teresa project. You will assist the spray crew with prep, masking, and material flow, using lifts up to height.

The role runs six days per week for 10–12 months, on a union job under IUPAT District Council 36, Local 823. Starting pay ranges from $18.20 to $24.70 per hour with a $5.00 per hour project incentive; OSHA 10, aerial lift certification are required or in-hand, plus a drug screen and

Qualifications

• Indentured apprentice through IUPAT District Council 36, Local Union 823.
• OSHA 10 with certificate in hand.
• Aerial lift certification covering boom and scissor lifts.
• Able to clear a fit for duty exam.
• Able to pass a ten panel drug screen before orientation, and a background check.
• Able to commit to 10 to 12 months on this project.
• Willing to work a 60-hour week, on your feet, at height.
• Preferred: Forklift certification; any airless spray time; prior commercial/industrial site experience.

Responsibilities

• Prep and production support for the spray crew: masking, floor protection, and keeping material moving.
• Spotting for lift work and material deliveries; certification required before start.
• Work from scissor lifts; walls up to 30 feet.
• Cut and roll finish work in corridors, administrative areas, and rooms with ceilings.
• Airless spray work as skill allows, extensive wall coverage.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Penington Painting Company is building a crew for a large-scale new construction project in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The scope is simple and the quantity is enormous: more than one million square feet of drywall, plus exposed structure, steel columns, bollards, and hollow metal doors and frames. It is all painting. No taping, no finishing, no floor systems, and almost no exterior work. If you want a long run of production spray work with a steady paycheck, this is it.

PAY: From $18.20 to $24.70per hour.Local 823 industrial apprentice scale plus a $5.00 per hour project incentive.
SCHEDULE: Six days
DURATION: 10 to 12 months of steady work
UNION: IUPAT District Council 36, Local Union 823

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• -Prep and production support for the spray crew: masking, floor protection, and keeping material moving.
• - Spotting for lift work and material deliveries. You will be certified for it before you start.
• - Working from scissor lifts. Most walls are 30 feet.
• - Cut and roll finish work in corridors, administrative areas, and rooms with ceilings.
• - Airless spray work as your stage and your skill allow. There is a lot of wall here to learn on.

Position Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE CONSIDERED

• - Indentured apprentice able to be dispatched through IUPAT District Council 36, Local Union 823.
• - OSHA 10 with the certificate in hand.
• - Aerial lift certification covering boom and scissor lifts, certificate in hand. This applies to apprentices and spotters, not just to operators.
• - Able to clear a fit for duty exam.
• - Able to pass a ten panel drug screen before orientation, and a background check.
• - Able to commit to 10 to 12 months on this project, out of town or locally if you are from New Mexico.
• - Willing to work a 60-hour week, on your feet, at height.
• - Preferred: Any airless spray time at all. Forklift certification. Prior commercial or industrial jobsite experience.
