Job summary

Halfords Autocentre Elgin is offering an Apprentice Auto Technician role, with GTG Training supporting you as you gain hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification.

Based at Elgin Autocentre, you will inspect, service, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles alongside experienced technicians, with 40 hours per week, 8:00am–6:00pm, and a clear path to progression and industry-recognised qualifications.

Qualifications

• National 4 Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject required.
• Strong interest in vehicles and mechanical work.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles.
• Learn using modern diagnostics and technologies with GTG/Halfords mentors.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills and attention to detail on daily tasks.

About The Role

Based in our Elgin Autocentre, you'll work alongside experienced technicians, learning how to inspect, service, maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles. No two days are the same, with exposure to modern technologies, diagnostics and complex vehicle repairs. We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in building a career in the motor industry.

Working Hours

• 5-day working week
• 40 hours (under 18s) / 44 hours (18+)
• Autocentre opening hours: 8:00am to 6:00pm

Training & Qualifications

You'll work towards:

• SCQF Level 5 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• Opportunity to progress to SCQF Level 7 after two years

Training includes workplace safety, vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and electrical systems, supported by dedicated GTG and Halfords mentors.

Qualifications

Entry Requirements

• National 4 (or above) in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject (or equivalent)
