Job summary

Chain Electric Company is seeking an Apprentice Lineman B to perform skilled tasks in construction, repair and maintenance of electrical distribution systems. This semi-skilled role requires adherence to safety practices and the ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.

The candidate should have at least 2 1/2 years of lineman experience or completion of a Lineman training program, a valid CDL-B license, and the willingness to travel and work irregular hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 1/2 years’ experience in groundman and lineman work.
• Ability to travel at a moment’s notice, anytime.
• Available to work irregular hours, weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Possess at minimum a valid CDL-B license.
• Possess your own tools.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Must be able to see long distances and differentiate colors and have depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Climb poles or use bucket trucks to access equipment and work at heights.
• Construct, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems and substations.
• Verify proper grounding of trucks and vehicles.
• Direct traffic near work zones and keep unauthorized people away.
• Read wiring diagrams and use testing instruments to identify defective devices.
• Drive vehicles to job sites with tools and materials.
• Splice or solder cables and lay underground cables through trenches.
• Dig holes and set poles using cranes and power equipment.
• Install cross-arms, insulators and related equipment on poles.
