Job summary

Oxford Utilities is seeking an Apprentice Lineman in Oxford, MS for a full-time, outdoor role. You will assist the Line Crew in constructing, operating, and maintaining overhead and underground distribution equipment and support energized and de-energized operations under safety guidelines.

The position requires a high school diploma, valid CDL within six months, TVPPA training, and the ability to work in all weather with overtime/on-call as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electrical power distribution system and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety rules, procedures, and regulations for installing and maintaining power components.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, operate, and maintain overhead and underground power lines and related equipment.
  • Replace/install poles, switches, transformers, meters, street and traffic lights per specs and safety rules.
  • Clear and maintain rights of way using chainsaw and related equipment.
  • Respond to emergency calls on a rotating basis based on experience and qualifications.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as aerial devices, trencher, and pole setting units.
  • Represent the City of Oxford in a courteous, professional manner.
