Job summary

Xcel Energy Distribution Construction seeks an Apprentice Line Worker (1st–4th year) at our Carlsbad, NM location. You will learn to construct, maintain, and restore high voltage distribution and transmission lines, part of a Department of Labor certified apprentice program.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, a CDL Class A or ability to obtain one within 120 days, and successful completion of the EEI CAST Assessment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• CDL Class A license or ability to obtain within 120 days of start date.
• Must have successfully taken the EEI CAST Assessment.
• Commitment to safety, quality work and customer service.
• Willing to respond to after hours and weekend call outs.
• Travel may be required for extended periods.
• Attend 2nd–4th year apprentice schools.
• Must pass federal DOT physical examination.
• Reside within 20 miles of Carlsbad Service Center.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain, and operate distribution and transmission lines.
• Support maintenance and emergency repairs of distribution and transmission lines.
