Summary

WesTech is in need of an Apprentice Fitter/Welder familiar with reading drawings, preparing materials for lay-out, fitting, and welding, and operating tools such as drills, saws, overhead cranes, lift trucks, and other equipment.

Candidates may be required to pass pre-employment and periodic screenings, including background checks, drug and alcohol tests, or other assessments.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain safety by using personal protective equipment and following safety guidelines.
• Receive guidance on welding and fitting processes.
• Understand welding procedures and techniques for efficiency.
• Weld various metals and alloys in different positions for high-pressure and strength requirements.
• Work independently according to instructions, prints, and drawings.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Produce quality parts meeting standards.
• Communicate clearly and be detail-oriented.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work hours: approximately 10 hours per day, arrive on time, complete tasks.

Required Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of welding experience.
• Experience with Dual Shield (FCAW) and Hard Wire (GMAW) welding.

Preferred Skills

• Certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Standing most of the time.
• Walking with parts.
• Stooping, crawling, reaching, handling.
• Ability to hold blasting hoses with high force.
• Wearing safety equipment including abrasive blast suit and hood.
• Good hearing and vision, passing pulmonary function test.
