Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC, seeks an Apprentice/Service Technician I for the Facilities Management department. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance at SOME-owned facilities, focusing on carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and related trades.

Work hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–4:00 pm (40 hours/wk); on-call twice per quarter. CET training or equivalent is required; travel to sites with your own transportation; mileage reimbursed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of SOME's CET Building Maintenance Training or similar.
• Travel to work sites using own transportation; mileage reimbursed.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must possess and maintain vehicle and valid driver's license with liability insurance.
• On-call twice per quarter; 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance on SOME buildings, facilities, and grounds.
• Inspects facilities for safety compliance and reports findings.
• Assists with framing, carpentry, doors, windows, and trim.
• Installs and maintains plumbing fixtures.
• Performs routine electrical work and lighting.
• Assists with roof installation and repair of leaks.
• Operates hand and power tools for construction and maintenance.
• Plan work travel to facilities for projects.
• Completes work orders, time sheets, requisitions, and reports.
• Assists with snow removal and after-hours emergencies.
