Job summary

Saber Power Services is seeking an Apprentice Electrician in Semmes, AL to assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of high voltage systems under the guidance of Journeymen and Foremen.

The role provides hands-on training, mentorship, and a clear pathway toward becoming an Electrician or Lineman. You’ll work outdoors, learn safety protocols, and contribute to projects across utility, renewables, and industrial sectors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL preferred or obtainable.
• Construction or electrical experience is a plus.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime or on-call as needed.
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and climb structures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation, maintenance and repair of high voltage systems under supervision.
• Assist in construction and maintenance of overhead and underground lines (typically 69kV–500kV).
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Prepare materials, tools and equipment at job sites.
• Support crews with site setup, traffic control and equipment operation.
• Attend required safety and technical training and follow company protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of trucks, equipment and job sites.
• Complete job documentation and reports as directed.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

In this role, you will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of high voltage systems under the supervision of experienced Journeymen and Foremen. This apprenticeship offers hands-on training, mentorship, and a pathway toward becoming an Electrician or Lineman.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground high voltage power lines and equipment (typically 69kV – 500kV)
• Operate hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner
• Prepare materials, tools, and equipment at job sites
• Support construction crews with site setup, traffic control, and equipment operation
• Learn and follow all company safety protocols, procedures, and utility regulations
• Attend and complete all required safety and technical training
• Perform physical labor such as digging trenches, lifting materials, and climbing poles or towers (with proper supervision and training)
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of trucks, equipment, and job sites
• Accurately complete job documentation and reports as directed
• Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)
• Previous construction or electrical experience is a plus but not required
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain
• Ability to travel and work overtime or on-call as needed
