Job summary

Spherion Staffing, LLC in Utah is seeking an Apprentice Electrician with a strong foundation in commercial electrical work and clean-energy power systems to join our field team. You will work alongside licensed Journeyman Electricians to install, wire, and maintain infrastructure including switchgear, transformers, solar PV, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

• 1-3+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience (residential with BESS/Solar acceptable).
• Ability to read basic single-line diagrams and mechanical layouts.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• System Installation Support: assist with placing, setting, and terminating commercial switchgear, transformers, and distribution panels.
• BESS & Solar Integration: help assemble, wire, and mount BESS and solar racks.
• Conduit & Wire Running: bend and install EMT, Rigid, and PVC conduit; heavy cable pulls and tray layouts.
• Control Wiring: assist with wiring control panels, PLCs, MCCs, and wire tagging.
• Testing & Safety: assist with basic testing and ensure OSHA/LOTO compliance.

We are seeking an experienced Apprentice Electrician with a strong foundation in commercial electrical work and clean-energy power systems to join our field team. In this hands‑on role, you will work alongside licensed Journeyman Electricians to install, wire, and maintain high‑level infrastructure, including commercial switchgear, transformers, solar PV, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
You will assist with complex commercial electrical installations from underground rough‑ins through system commissioning. You'll gain direct experience handling power distribution equipment, step‑up/step‑down transformers, solar inverters, and custom control panel wiring while maintaining safe job sites and code‑compliant work.
Responsibilities:

• System Installation Support: Assist with placing, setting, and terminating commercial switchgear, transformers, distribution panels, and power conversion equipment.
• BESS & Solar Integration: Help assemble, wire, and mount commercial Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar PV racks, and high‑voltage DC equipment.
• Conduit & Wire Running: Bend and install EMT, Rigid, and PVC conduit; execute heavy cable pulls, feeder runs, and tray layouts.
• Control Wiring: Assist with wiring control panels, PLCs, motor control centers (MCCs), and wire tagging under Journeyman supervision.
• Testing & Safety: Help perform basic testing (continuity, voltage checks, megger testing), maintain clean work areas, and strictly follow OSHA and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Working hours: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Skills:

• Direct experience with commercial solar PV, BESS enclosures, or control panel assembly.

Experience: 1-4 years
Qualifications:

• Active Electrical Apprentice Registration/Card in Utah.
• 1-3+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience (residential experience with BESS/Solar is acceptable).
• Hands‑on experience working with conduit bending, wire pulls, and basic electrical terminations.
• Ability to read basic single‑line diagrams, point‑to‑point schematics, and mechanical layouts.
• Working knowledge of standard power tools, digital multimeters, and basic NEC guidelines.
• Active OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 is a plus).
• Work Authorization: Applicants must already have the legal authorization to work in the US without requiring any employer sponsorship.
• Physical Requirements
• Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding and at elevated heights.
• Comfortable operating or learning to operate specialized equipment (scissor lifts, boom lifts, etc.).
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.
