Job summary

San Francisco Public Works is seeking an Apprentice Cement Mason II to join the Operations team. This entry-level program develops skills to progress to a journey-level cement mason through hands-on training and structured development under supervision.

Apprentices will support journey-level masons by performing routine concrete tasks, following safety procedures, and learning to estimate materials and job layouts while maintaining a valid California driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee School for cement masonry.
• Completion of the third (3rd) period of the Northern California Cement Masons Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.
• Requires possession and maintenance of a valid California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Participates in a Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee Apprenticeship School.
• Communicates with supervisors, journeylevel cement masons, and co-workers.
• Prepares job sites by setting up safety tripods and scaffolding; may secure confined space job sites.
• Performs mixing and applying toppings, colors, grout, epoxy overlays, or waterproofing compounds following job specifications.
• Pours and finishes concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters, streets, and ramps.
