Job summary

MAK Design + Build in Davis, California is seeking an Apprentice Carpenter to learn residential remodeling from experienced Lead Carpenters and the Director of Build. This full‑time role provides hands‑on training, mentorship, and daily coaching to grow into a skilled carpenter.

You’ll collaborate with designers and trade partners on kitchens, baths, and whole‑home remodels, follow construction drawings, and uphold safety and quality.

Qualifications

• No prior carpentry experience required; construction experience is a plus.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work safely throughout the day.
• Willingness to learn residential construction methods and best practices.
• Ability to safely use or learn to use hand and power tools.
• Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Strong desire to build a long-term career in residential remodeling.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with demolition, framing, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, trim, hardware, and punch list work.
• Install floor protection, dust containment systems, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
• Learn residential construction methods through daily hands‑on training and mentorship.
• Work alongside experienced Carpenters and Lead Carpenters while developing professional carpentry skills.
• Safely operate hand tools and power tools under supervision.
• Help organize materials, deliveries, tools, and equipment on active job sites.
• Follow construction drawings, project instructions, and company standards.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners, teammates, subcontractors, and trade partners.
• Utilize company technology including JobTread, scheduling software, email, and shared project documents.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to continuously improve.
