Job summary

MAK Design + Build, an award-winning residential design + build remodeling company in Davis, California, is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join a collaborative team. You will participate from demolition to finish work on kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and whole-home remodels, ensuring safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of residential carpentry experience (remodeling preferred).
• Experience with rough framing, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, and general remodeling.
• Ability to read and interpret residential construction drawings.
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods and sequencing.
• Own reliable transportation and a valid California driver’s license.
• Own basic hand tools (company power tools and specialty tools provided).
• Ability to safely lift materials and perform physically demanding work.
• Strong references and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Perform residential remodeling tasks including demolition, framing, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, doors, trim, hardware, drywall repair, painting, and punch work.
• Protect clients' homes with dust control, floor protection, and jobsite cleanliness.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project details.
• Communicate clearly with the Project Manager, Lead Carpenter, Director of Build, homeowners, subcontractors, and teammates.
• Maintain organization of tools, materials, and work areas; assist with deliveries and project logistics.
• Produce high-quality craftsmanship while meeting production schedules and company standards.
• Identify field challenges early and develop practical solutions with the team.
• Utilize JobTread and other company software for scheduling and documentation.
• Continuously improve carpentry skills and construction techniques.
• Support a positive, professional jobsite culture.

We are looking for an experienced Carpenter to join a collaborative, hardworking, and solution-focused team. The Carpenter is an accountable member of the Build Team responsible for producing high-quality residential remodeling projects safely, efficiently, and with exceptional attention to detail. This role performs a wide range of carpentry tasks, from demolition and rough framing to detailed finish work, while working closely with the Project Manager, Lead Carpenter, and Director of Build to keep projects on schedule and deliver a zero-punch-list client experience.

Location + Work Arrangement

This is a full-time position based in Davis, California. Our office is located in downtown Davis, and our projects are generally within a 45-minute drive. Daily work is performed on active residential remodeling job sites throughout the surrounding communities.
