Job Summary

Our Apprentice Cake Decorator plays a vital role in ensuring our pastries are visually appealing and delicious. In addition to delivering exceptional guest service, you'll assist in creating beautiful cake designs and provide the sweets that make celebrations special. Key duties include training in all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Baker functions, with a focus on cake decorating for individuals with minimal or no retail decorating experience. To succeed, you should be a team player, driven to support your colleagues, eager to grow into leadership, and passionate about culinary arts and customer engagement. Creativity, enthusiasm for food trends, and a desire to connect with people are essential. Job Description

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Learn product knowledge and procedures, including product information, special orders, cake program, portion control, seasonal items, and color mixing.
• Follow procedures to meet out-of-stock goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Prioritize safety in all tasks for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping locate products, answering questions, and making suggestions.
• Familiarize with store products to assist customers effectively.
• Handle products and equipment safely, adhering to food safety and safety guidelines.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales.
• Prepare and decorate bakery products, ensuring proper rotation and freshness.
• Offer sampling opportunities when appropriate.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work areas, and storage spaces.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
• Assist with unloading deliveries to maintain backroom, cooler, and freezer efficiency.
• Follow department procedures, including product rotation and order taking.
• Support other areas as needed.
