Our Apprentice Baker plays a vital role in ensuring our pastries look and taste exceptional. In addition to delivering outstanding guest service, you'll help create beautiful and delicious baked goods that will delight our customers and be the highlight of their gatherings. Key responsibilities include producing high-quality bakery products to meet customer expectations and building customer loyalty through excellent service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to learn all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Cake Decorator functions. It is ideal for someone with minimal or no retail decorating experience who is eager to develop their skills.

Job Description

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Experience Desired: Prior experience in bakery or related industry
• Education Desired: No high school diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years old

Job Responsibilities

• Perform bench work according to established recipes when necessary.
• Prepare and shape products according to scratch recipes and specifications.
• Bake products using specified time and temperature settings.
• Insert products into proof boxes, set controls, and ensure proper size and shape.
• Prepare and fry donuts following established procedures.
• Store products in the freezer to maintain freshness.
• Use suggestive selling techniques and offer samples when appropriate.
• Prioritize safety in all tasks to protect team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping locate products, answering questions, and making suggestions.
• Handle products and equipment safely according to food safety and safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work areas, and storage spaces to meet sanitation standards.
• Bake and display products, rotate stock, and follow code dating procedures to ensure freshness.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and housekeeping protocols to meet department standards.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Understand ingredients and their purposes in scratch baked goods.
• Prepare baking ingredients for operations, including all scratch recipes.
• Assist with unloading deliveries to maintain bakery backroom, cooler, and freezer efficiency.
• Support other areas of the bakery as needed.
