Job summary

GTG Training is recruiting an Apprentice Autocare Technician to join a busy independent garage in Kent. The role combines full-time garage work with practical training, enabling you to earn while you learn and progress toward an IMI qualification.

You will train at GTG Wolverhampton, attending block release weeks to achieve Level 2 Autocare Technician or Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician, with GCSEs in Maths, English and Science or a technical subject, and a proactive,

Qualifications

• GCSE Level or above in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Learn all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including servicing, MOT preparation, removal and overhaul of major components and electrical fault diagnostics.
• Work in a garage workshop as part of GTG Training
• Attend block release training at GTG Wolverhampton for Level 2 Autocare Technician or Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician.

The Modern Apprenticeship Programmes allow apprentices to work full time and earn while they learn putting theory into practice within a training environment. As well as attending the training centre for week block release of training, regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.

What Might a Typical Day in this Job look like?

You will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components and electrical fault diagnostics.

Examples of the units covered are:

• Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment
• Inspection of light vehicles
• Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units and components
• Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle engines and component faults
• Ensuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
• Contributing to workplace good housekeeping

What will I learn?

Regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace with dedicated mentors from GTG and the apprentice’s workplace, which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.

You will train through GTG Wolverhampton, by attending block release training weeks, to Level 2 Autocare Technician or Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician.

What qualifications or qualities are required?

GCSE Level or above in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject or equivalent.

What personal qualities are required?
